NEW YORK (September 27, 2022) – Acertitude, the executive search firm unleashing human potential, has found the new senior vice president, chief human resources officer for food solutions company SpartanNash, placing Nicole Zube, who most recently served as head of human resources, U.S. commercial at the Kellogg Company.

“Nicole is an accomplished people leader with invaluable experience managing a large-scale, global workforce within the food industry,” said SpartanNash CEO Tony Sarsam. “Throughout her career, Nicole has demonstrated passion and commitment to creating an outstanding associate experience, and we are thrilled to have her join SpartanNash as we continue our work to put People First.”

Zube will oversee SpartanNash’s HR function, including the company’s “people first” approach to attracting, developing, and retaining diverse talent.

She has served in a variety of human resources roles at Kellogg during the past 10 years, including a three-year stint in the United Kingdom, where she was Senior HR Director, European Supply Chain and Senior HR Director, European Talent and Diversity. Prior to Kellogg, Zube worked in various HR positions during her eight-year career at Procter & Gamble.

Zube earned her bachelor's degree from Northern Kentucky University and her master's degree from Xavier University. She has been recognized as a 2016 Top Women in Grocery by Progressive Grocer, a 2020 and 2021 Top 10 Global Diversity HR Champion by the Global Diversity List, and the 2021 LEAD Ambassador of the Year by LEAD Network Europe.

The addition of Zube demonstrates the remarkable transformation of the SpartanNash executive leadership team during the past two years, since Sarsam's appointment as CEO. The team behind building this world-class, cohesive C-suite is Acertitude’s Consumer practice, led by Kevin O’Neill, co-founder and managing partner and one of the world’s top executive recruiters in the food and beverage space.

“Nicole brings the best of best-in-class HR leadership. Having her in this pivotal role is essential as SpartanNash continues to execute on its people-first, winning strategy and forge a path for growth and sustainable value creation for shareholders,” said O’Neill. “We are honored to work with Tony, Nicole, and SpartanNash—an exemplary group of people—to help make this transformation happen.”

In addition to recruiting Zube as CHRO, the team has completed more than 20 executive searches, including the chief financial officer, chief strategy and information officer, chief supply chain officer, chief merchandising officer, and chief legal officer.
